SC Freiburg vs Werder Bremen

Bundesliga, Germany
Match date: Saturday, Nov 21, 2009
Stadium: badenova-Stadion
In the last round Freiburg managed to end the losing run of four games, after they beat Bochum 2:1 away. Werder are in the run of 12 unbeaten games including all competitions, while two weeks ago they failed to hold on to the lead over Dortmund in front of their fans. Even though his team lost four straight games, coach Robin Dutt has the support of the club management and he thanked them for it with a win over Bochum. Two weeks ago Freiburg ended the losing run when they celebrated in Bochum, thanks to Reisinger’s last-minute strike. Dutt opted for the formation with only one striker up front and it will most likely be excellent Idrissou, team’s best scorer. Still, in the last few matches he failed to score and precisely those four matches were defeats. Having in mind that Werder’s defense conceded five goals in as many away games, so we think is interesting. The main characteristic of these two teams is the attacking style. In the last ten matches against Werder Freiburg failed to score in only two of those games. Having in mind that both teams will give their best after a two—week break, we expect an open approach from the start and After the opening defeat against Frankfurt, Werder have gone three months without losing in any of the competitions, and Schaaf’s men seem unstoppable. Two weeks ago Werder only drew at home in the derby against Dortmund, thus missing the fine opportunity to close the gap behind leading Leverkusen on only one point. Coach Schaaf can’t count on team’s best striker Pizarro so Hugo Almeida will start instead in tandem with Marin, supported by Hunt and Ozil from the midfield. Such line-up suggests offensive approach form the start and .Even though Werder are second on the standings, they are the most successful Bundesliga team, when you count in all the competitions. Thomas Schaaf’s men start each duel without hesitation aiming to crush the rivals early on. That is why the great number of goals Werder players score in the first half is no surprise. That is why seems tempting.Freiburg managed to move away from the dangerous zone after winning in Bochum but the fact that they host inspired Werder doesn’t favour them at all. Only once did Freiburg manage to beat the green squad in this millennium, while they lost even seven duels. Werder obviously have no intention of ending the negative run in this game and even though they will have to do without their best striker, we believe in away win. We will post results of this match, as soon as posible.
